How the ClearScore scale works

ClearScore uses a 01000 scale divided into 5 ranges. Lenders look at which range your score falls into, along with your full credit report, to decide eligibility and pricing.

Scores can differ between agencies because they use different data sources and models. If you have scores from multiple agencies, compare where you fall in each scale.

Common questions about ClearScore scores

What is a good ClearScore credit score?

On the ClearScore scale (0–1000), scores in the "Excellent" or "Very Good" ranges are considered good. However, lenders also review your full credit report and affordability, not just the number.

Why does ClearScore use Equifax data?

ClearScore partners with Equifax to provide your credit score. This means your ClearScore score and ranges match the Equifax scale exactly.

How often does my ClearScore score update?

Credit scores typically update monthly when lenders report new data. Changes to your credit behaviour may take 4-6 weeks to reflect in your score.

Do all lenders use this score range?

Lenders may use different credit reference agencies and their own internal scoring models. Your ClearScore range is a helpful guide, but each lender makes independent decisions.
