How the Experian scale works

Experian uses a 01250 scale divided into 5 ranges. Lenders look at which range your score falls into, along with your full credit report, to decide eligibility and pricing.

Scores can differ between agencies because they use different data sources and models. If you have scores from multiple agencies, compare where you fall in each scale.

Common questions about Experian scores

What is a good Experian credit score?

On the Experian scale (0–1250), scores in the "Excellent" or "Very Good" ranges are considered good. However, lenders also review your full credit report and affordability, not just the number.

How often does my Experian score update?

Credit scores typically update monthly when lenders report new data. Changes to your credit behaviour may take 4-6 weeks to reflect in your score.

Do all lenders use this score range?

Lenders may use different credit reference agencies and their own internal scoring models. Your Experian range is a helpful guide, but each lender makes independent decisions.
