Does Monzo show up on your credit report?

Monzo does not automatically appear on all credit reports in the UK. Monzo historically only reported account information to TransUnion, one of the three major credit reference agencies in the UK, and not to Experian or Equifax.

However, since January 2020 they’ve also started reporting to Experian. This means that if you are checking your credit report with Equifax, your Monzo account will not be visible. However, it should appear on your TransUnion and Experian credit report.

What information does Monzo report to Experian and TransUnion?

When it comes to your current account, Monzo reports things like your account details, overdraft status, and any payment issues or arrangements:

  • Your personal details to identify you and link your account to your credit report;
  • Your overdraft balance and limit (if you have one);
  • The type of account and when you opened and closed it;
  • Whether you're up-to-date on overdraft payments (or Flex or Loan);
  • How long you've been over your overdraft limit;
  • If your account is in default (you haven't paid back what you owe for a long time);
  • If you have a repayment plan set up with Monzo to help pay back what you owe.

If you have a Monzo Loan or a Flex virtual credit card, expect Monzo to also report how you're managing them and if you have any payment issues. Monzo will share things like:

  • Your personal details to identify you and link your loan to your credit report;
  • How much you still owe on your loan, the total loan amount, and your initial monthly repayment;
  • The type of loan you have (personal loan or credit card) and if you've paid it off or not;
  • If you're late on loan payments and how many payments you've missed;
  • If you have a repayment plan with Monzo to help if you're struggling to pay back your loan.

Monzo shares all this data once a month.

However, Monzo will not share everything about your account with Experian and TransUnion. Here is what the credit reference agencies won’t see:

  • How much money you have in your account;
  • Whether you have any savings or money in Monzo Pots;

Your Monzo login details and what you say to Monzo via chat is also not shared and private.
